World War I Unit

8th Graders learning about WWI got to experience a live trench warfare demonstration. Mrs. Doll also brought in a WWI helmet used by her grandfather along with a photograph of all of the men in Bond County who were called up with the Selective Service act to fight in Europe.

8th Grade Field Trip- Demoulin Museum and Hoiles-Davis Museum

8th Grade students had a chance to experience local history on a field trip to the DeMoulin Museum and the Hoiles-David Museum in Greenville. The Demoulin Brothers opened shop in the late 1800's making devices for fraternal initiations. Then, at the Hoiles-Davis Museum, students learned about Bond County's role in the Civil War, along with information about the PET Milk company and other local activities.

The Case of John Brown

8th Grade students used primary sources located around the room to determine whether or not John Brown was a hero or a villain. Sources included eye witness reports, newspaper articles, songs, and poems.
